Learn More About Somatic Informed Bodywork
Somatic Informed Bodywork is rooted in the work of Peter A. Levine, PhD, the developer of Somatic Experiencing®. Through his study of trauma, stress, and the nervous system, Dr. Levine recognized that trauma is not held in the event itself, but in how the body is unable to complete its natural responses to threat.
Drawing from neuroscience, biology, psychology, and indigenous wisdom, his work laid the foundation for modern somatic and trauma-informed approaches that honor the body’s innate capacity for healing text goes here.
-
Somatic Informed Bodywork is a gentle, body-centered approach that supports healing through awareness, safety, and nervous system regulation.
Rather than working only with muscles or symptoms, this approach listens to the body as a living, responsive system—one that holds experience, memory, and the possibility for reorganization and ease.
Sessions may include hands-on bodywork, guided awareness, breath, subtle movement, or stillness, always guided by what the body is ready to receive.
-
Somatic Informed Bodywork may be supportive if you are experiencing:
Ongoing stress, tension, or fatigue
Anxiety, overwhelm, or burnout
Trauma or unresolved stress responses
Disconnection from bodily sensation
Difficulty resting, settling, or feeling safe
This work can be received as steady, ongoing support or during times of transition, recovery, and personal growth.

Sessions take place in my private office—a quiet, calming space intentionally created to support safety, containment, and ease.
Soft lighting, minimal distractions, and a sense of privacy allow the nervous system to slow down and orient toward safety. The environment itself becomes a form of support, inviting the body to arrive, settle, and be met with care.
Every element of the space is arranged with comfort, choice, and attunement in mind, allowing the work to unfold at a pace that feels grounded and respectful.
-
Iomatic Informed Bodywork follows the natural rhythms of the nervous system. Rather than analyzing or forcing change, the work moves slowly—listening for what the body is already expressing in the present moment.
Guided by core tools from Somatic Experiencing®, sessions support regulation and integration through gentle, attuned processes.
We begin with tracking, noticing sensations such as breath, warmth, tension, or subtle movement as they arise. These sensations become guideposts, shaping the pace of the work.
Through orienting, awareness gently turns outward—to light, sound, space, and physical support—helping the nervous system recognize that it is safe here and now.
Pendulation allows attention to move between areas of ease and areas of activation, creating a natural rhythm that builds resilience without overwhelm. Titration keeps the work in small, digestible pieces, honoring the body’s timing and capacity.
Grounding and resourcing offer steady points of support throughout the session. Resources may include breath, imagery, memory, sensation, or relational presence—places the nervous system can rest and return to.
When appropriate, gentle hands-on support may be offered, such as light holding of joints or diaphragmatic holds. This kind of touch is not about manipulation or correction, but about providing clear, steady contact that supports containment, coherence, and a felt sense of safety within the body.
The SIBAM framework gently separates experience into sensation, image, behavior, affect, and meaning, allowing the nervous system to process without becoming flooded or overwhelmed.
All touch is optional, consensual, and guided by comfort, capacity, and choice.
Together, these elements support the completion of interrupted stress responses and invite the nervous system back toward balance, presence, and ease.
-
tress and trauma are not only stories we remember—they are patterns the body continues to hold. Somatic Informed Bodywork matters because it meets these patterns at their source, within the nervous system itself.
This approach:
Honors the body’s wisdom and timing
Supports safety, agency, and self-trust
Encourages regulation and resilience
Fosters change that feels integrated and lasting
Somatic Informed Bodywork offers a gentle path back to embodiment—where healing unfolds not through force, but through awareness, support, and relationship with the body.
